Founder of Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center Most Venerable Bhante Sujatha is a dedicated Buddhist monk and spiritual teacher known for his unwavering commitment to sharing the teachings of the Buddha and promoting mindfulness through meditation. Since arriving in the United States in the late 1990s, Bhante Sujatha has tirelessly served the community, establishing the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple and Meditation Center in Woodstock, Illinois.

Recognizing the growing interest in meditation, Bhante Sujatha embarked on a mission to create inclusive spaces for learning and practice. His efforts have led to the formation of meditation groups across the nation, fostering a deep sense of community and spiritual growth among practitioners. With his compassionate guidance, Bhante Sujatha has trained fellow monks and expanded the Blue Lotus mission, establishing multiple centers in various states. His teachings are accessible to all, emphasizing the importance of mindfulness and meditation in everyday life.

Under his leadership, the Blue Lotus community continues to thrive, with branches dedicated to nurturing spiritual development and well-being. His recent establishment of the Blue Lotus Buddhist Vihara in Louisiana reflects his dedication to spreading the wisdom of the Buddha far and wide. 

Bhante Dhammadassi

Abbot of the of Blue Lotus Meditation Center Louisiana

Bhante Dhammadassi is the chief abbot of the Blue Lotus Meditation Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He entered the Buddhist Order during his prime and completed his primary monastic education at the Sri Sumana Pirivena in Eheliyagoda. 
​
Later, he graduated from the University of Ruhuna with a Bachelor's degree and earned two diplomas in mass communication from the prestigious Colombo and Kelaniya institutes in Sri Lanka. He also obtained a Master's degree from the same university. 
​
After arriving in the United States,  Bhante Dhammadasi is contributing to the community at Blue Lotus Meditation Center in Baton Rouge.

Bhante Assaji

Residennt Monk of the of Blue Lotus Meditation Center Louisiana

Bhante Assaji is a Buddhist monk from Sri Lanka who is currently living at The Blue Lotus Buddhist temple in Louisiana, USA.  He became a monk in 2002 when he entered the Monastery at 9 years old. He is also a Scholar Monk who attained his Master’s Degree at the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka, majoring in Pali Language and Buddhist Studies.

 

Bhante Assaji brings a background of wisdom, studies, and guidance and speaks from the heart. When listening to him, you will find that he offers his message in a fun, wise, and genuine way.
